第４８回衆議院議員選挙の結果を受けて（党声明）｜立憲民主党代表・枝野幸男 Statement by CDP President Yukio Edano on the results of 48th Lower House Election
第４８回衆議院総選挙の結果、立憲民主党は７８名の公認候補者のうち、現時点において小選挙区１７名、比例区３３名、計５０名の当選を得ることが出来ました。まだ最終の議席確定はしておりませんし、懸命に戦ってきた仲間が結果を待っている状況ではありますが、まずは、この選挙を共に戦い、これだけ多くの議席を勝ち取っていただいた、全ての国民、有権者の皆さんに、心から感謝を申し上げます。
At this time of the hour, the result of the 48th House of Representatives Election has shown that of 78 official candidates of the Constitutional Democratic Party (CDP), 17 candidates has won in the single-member districts, 33 has won in the proportional representation districts, bringing the total win by 50 of our candidates. The results are yet to be finalized, and we are still awaiting the results from our fellow candidates who have fought hard until today. But first, I would like to express my deep gratitude to all of the people, the voters, who have fought together with us throughout this election and allowed us to win the many seats that have been rewarded to us.
立憲民主党は、この選挙戦を通じ、上からの押し付けではない、草の根からの「まっとうな政治」を取り戻すことを訴えてきました。そうした私たちの訴えに、これまで永田町の政治が遠いところにあると感じていた多くの国民の皆さんが共鳴し、一緒に新しい政治の流れを創り出して下さったことは、私たちにとって大きな喜びですし、今、あらためてその責任の重さを痛感しています。
Throughout this election battle, CDP has made a case that people at grassroots level must be able to redeem decency in politics. This way of thinking resonated with many people that have felt themselves distanced by the so-called Nagatacho Politics. And the fact that these people have worked together with us, hand-in-hand, to create a new wave of politics have brought us great joy, and have now given us a renewed sense of responsibility weighing on our shoulders.
一方で、この間、共に活動し、一緒に戦う準備をしてきた多くの仲間たちが、議席を得ることができず、結果として、与党が絶対安定多数を確保する展開になってしまったことは、「安倍政治の暴走に歯止めをかける」ことをめざし、国民の皆さんと共に戦った私たちにとって大変厳しい結果であり、重く受け止めなければなりません。
On the other hand, as we aimed towards and fought along with the people to put a stop to Abe’s style of politics, the fact that many of our fellow men and women - who have been with us from the onset and worked hard to win this election - could not retain their seats, and that as a result of this has given the ruling coalition the upper hand to acquire absolute majority in the parliament, is a stern reality that we have to face up with.
まさに立憲民主党にとっては、今日から、ここからが、国民の皆さんとともに歩みを始める新たなスタートです。今回、立憲民主党の戦いに参加いただいた方々だけでなく、全ての皆さんに、立憲民主党を通じてお一人おひとりの声を国会につなげていっていただきたいと思います。私たちは、国民の皆さんにお約束した草の根からの政治を実行に移し、支え合いの仕組みを創っていくために、強い決意と覚悟をもって国政に臨んで参ります。
For us, this is the time. Today is the day, where we start advancing towards our goal, together with the people. We will not only pick up the voices of those who joined our fight in this election, but of all of the people, each and every one of you, to connect your voices to our work in the national parliament. CDP is determined, and is resolved, to engage national politics to uphold our promises to the people, and to do so from the ground-up, creating a system where we all can support each other.
